FANCY GETTING MARRIED WITHOUT THE COMMITMENT?
A wedding venue in Worcestershire is offering couples a unique opportunity to walk down the aisle together this February - without having to sign up for a lifetime of commitment.
The Granary in Shenstone, near Kidderminster, will be holding mock wedding ceremonies in one of its licensed ceremony suites, complete with real registrars and the chance to dress up as bride and groom. Weeping relatives are optional.
Worcestershire County Council Registration Services will undertake a demonstration of a civil ceremony, allowing would be brides and grooms to exchange the vows they might use at a real wedding, and to ask questions about what happens on the big day.
The Granary's wedding coordinator Jo Burgess explains: 'Many couples spend months planning their wedding, but devote little time to thinking about the actual ceremony. Having a mock wedding in front of others gives people the opportunity to think of any questions they might have for the registrar, but might be too nervous to ask on the day.
'Making sure that every couple's wedding runs smoothly is a priority for the Granary, and offering this opportunity is just part of the service. It helps smooth out any pre-wedding nerves and gives fiancés and their fiancées a chance to think about what they can do to make their big day special.'
Local bridal stockists Unique To You and To Have And To Hold will be on hand to provide outfits for the couples to try on if they wish. Tricky questions – like which types of music are allowed at civil ceremonies, or what order things should take place on the day – will be answered by the registrars, with Jo on hand to give her top tips on wedding etiquette.
The Granary's owner Richard Fletcher said: 'We're delighted to offer this opportunity for people to come down to The Granary and find out more about the commitment they're about to make. Whether you've just got engaged or are already in the final planning stages, everyone is welcome to come down to our wedding fair on the 22nd February.'
The Granary's mock weddings are take place as part of its wedding fair between 2pm and 5pm on Sunday 22nd February, at The Granary, Heath Lane, Shenstone, Kidderminster, Worcester, DY10 4BS, tel: 01562 777535.
